YMCA Y-Steins Preschool
Your child will benefit from a comprehensive, specially designed, and highly researched curriculum, inspired by “Emilia Reggio Approach”. The YMCA staff is highly trained in the approach and are evaluated and observed throughout the school year. The approach focuses intensely on the children’s interest and the teachers work as a partner with the children to develop the curriculum. Learning takes place through touching, moving, listening, seeing, and hearing. Parental support, input, and involvement are a high priority for the success of the program. All parental meetings are held in the evenings. The staff highly respects your children and teaches your children to respect others as well by instilling the YMCA’s core values: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. The YMCA staff also incorporates healthy habits and fitness during our regularly scheduled snack and gym/outdoors time. The children are also observed and evaluated several times during the school year. Progress of skills and activities are documented throughout the year and available for review at any time. Also, weekly assessments are distributed to parents every Friday. Parents are always informed through many means of communication and encouraged to volunteer in the classroom. The YMCA Childcare staff will work together with our families to provide a high quality education and a comfortable environment for all the little youngsters.
At the YMCA Preschool, we want to make your morning transition easy for you family. If your child arrives between the hours of 6am-7am we will get your child dressed for the day. The lead teacher provides a weekly overview and newsletter to the parents every Friday. Parents are welcome to observe and volunteer for any reason at any time. Many of our staff are teachers and parents, and understand parents needing to know what their children are doing while they are away.
Our preschool has three staff in the morning, and two in the afternoon. One staff person is the lead teacher, but they all work together cooperatively. The kids really benefit from the team teaching atmosphere, and develop strong bonds with the staff. Aside from the staff’s college education, they maintain 12 hours of training each year. The staff is personable and friendly and devoted all of your children and their success in the future learning career.
